MD Events has hired former In2Events head of sales Chris Wells and Reed Business Information's Ed MacNaughton as business development managers, amid plans to target the corporate sector.

The agency, which has historically worked in the Life Sciences and pharmaceutical sectors, has launched a new corporate division that will be headed up by Wells and MacNaughton, with the aim of targeting business in new industries, including finance and aerospace.
Wells will work with the agency's existing clients as well as helping to attract new business, while MacNaughton will focus predominantly on the new corporate division.
MD Events also revealed that it will now offer DMC services for corporate clients from its outlying offices in St Petersburg, Singapore, Hong Kong, Rio, Sacramento and Philadelphia. Services will include planning travel schedules, booking accommodation, sourcing flights and arranging global transfers.
Tarquin Scadding-Hunt, general manager, MD Events, toldC&IT: "We've had lots of interest from our clients in doing things outside of our core area and we took the opportunity. The corporate division will capture everything outside of the more regulated area that we already work in.
"We've already contracted in excess of our budgeted turnover for next year and 2016 is looking incredibly healthy."
Scadding-Hunt revealed that the agency is targeting £15-20m turnover for 2015, with the corporate division expected to make a significant contribution.
Wells joined In2Events as head of sales in April 2014 after more than two years as head of events at Chambers Travel Events. He commented: "My background is mixed so I will work between the clients we have at the moment and focus on new business. The experience that we have had with other companies instantly ticks boxes with some of MD Events' existing clients and it is about thinking what is going to appeal to them."
MacNaughton joins the agency after spending more than six years at Reed Business Information delivering aviation conferences. He said: "I have spent more than ten years in aerospace and I have some good relationships there so that is going to be an area that I will be picking up. Finance will also be an area that we will look to focus on.
